Tina Knowles Files for Divorce from Matthew Knowles....Damn!!

HOUSTON – Beyonce's mother, Tina Knowles, has filed for divorce from the pop diva's father and manager, Mathew Knowles. Tina Knowles began legal proceedings Nov. 11, according to documents filed with the Harris County Court Clerk. She launched the House of Dereon clothing line with Beyonce in 2006.

"The decision to end our marriage is an amicable one. We remain friends, parents, and business partners," the couple said in a statement provided to The Associated Press on Friday. "If anyone is expecting an ugly messy fight, they will be sadly disappointed. We ask for your respect of our privacy as we handle this matter."

The divorce filing came about a month after Mathew Knowles was named in a paternity suit. Los Angeles resident Alexsandra Wright claims in the lawsuit that he is the father of her unborn child.

Tina and Mathew Knowles wed in 1980. In addition to 27-year-old Beyonce, they have another daughter, 23-year-old singer Solange.

Sex and Diseases in the Lesbian Community..

Do you really know the person that you chose to share your life and body with? There is a myth that two women can't contract a disease from one another! What are the statistics for the lesbian community when it comes down to sexually transmitted diseases. These questions and more will be answered in this article.

I have always known that I was quite fortunate not to have contracted any diseases from the women that I have been with in the past! Growing up as fast as I did and loving and desiring women the way that I do I never took time to think about catching anything from another woman but as I grew older and wiser I was more conscientious of the women I shared my body with and who shared their body with me! I was certain to get my pap smears and blood work because their are some std's that does not show up in a pap smear. Sure we as lesbians think that if she looks good and smells good then she must be clean. Don't fool yourself "Everything that shines..ain't Gold". I remember being told by my mom that if you're going to do that then make sure they past the test. One of the test was taking earwax from your ear and rubbbing it on their clit and if they started to get a burning sensation then something was not right down there! Yes sounds silly I know but getting a STD from another woman is no laughing matter especially "Herpes" which remains with you for the rest of your life!

There was also the scratch and sniff test,not to be fooled by the fresh odor down there because it could be covering up something! Needless to say I never performed any test but I am grtaeful that I am disease free!! I love my health and I think that Lesbians ought to take more steps into assuring that they too know what they are dealing with when it comes to a partner! I cringe at the thought of being forever scarred in such a dreadful way. One friend told me something that made a lot of sense and that is you never really no anyone the only person you really know is yourself!

I've often stayed clear of the bi-sexual woman, because of the fact that if she's sleeping with a man and then she sleeps with you then you run the risk of contracting something that she has probably got from the man she was with! Sperm lives inside of a woman for a long time and to knowingly do that to another woman is just nasty to me! yet in still there are women out there who will allow you to have oral sex with her hours after she has been with a man!!

Could you or rather would you be with another woman if she was honest enough to reveal to you that she infact had a STD? I am sure that the revealing part would be somewhat uncomfortable for a woman to do but I do feel that it is necessary! The woman may decide that she could not be with you for fear of infecting herself but in the end she will respect you for being honest!!

Women are prone to sleeping with other women without taking time to really know one another...Same with the heterosexual woman who carelessly gives her body to a man without considering protection.

"There is a misconception among health care providers and women themselves that lesbian and bisexual women have little or no risk for sexually transmitted diseases (STD). This myth is fueled by the lack of reliable studies of STD transmission in these communities.

In fact, the risk of STD transmission between women varies significantly depending on the STD. Herpes, HPV (genital wart virus), and bacterial vaginosis are transmitted fairly easily between women during sex. HIV, hepatitis B, gonorrhea, and chlamydia are much less likely to be transmitted--the risk is low but it is still possible.

The majority of lesbian and bisexual women have (or have had) sex with men, and all STDs are easily transmitted from men to women during intercourse. Often STD do not have symptoms, so it is possible for a woman to have become infected years ago and to still harbor the infection.

It is important that you share your particular sexual history with a GLBT-friendly health care provider who can advise you of the appropriate STD screening tests for you. All women, including lesbian and bisexual women, need to receive regular Pap tests.



Women who have sex with women are just as much at risk of sexually transmitted infections as heterosexual women, finds a study in Sexually Transmitted Infections.

And high proportions have also had sex with men, the research shows.

Sexual history and behavior data were analyzed from the records of almost 3,000 women.

Bacterial vaginosis was significantly more common among lesbians, suggesting that it may have been sexually transmitted. Rates of genital warts and herpes were high among all women in the study. Women with female sex partners were also six times more likely to inject drugs and were significantly more likely to be infected with hepatitis C.

Only 7% of women who had sex with women said they had never had sex with a man. They were three times as likely to have had sexual contact with a gay or bisexual man, and much more likely to have had more than 50 male sexual partners during their lifetime.





Lesbian safer sex is not an oxymoron. There are ways to improve the safety of most, if not all, sexual activity that takes place between women. The mechanics of many safer sex acts between women are the same as those for many other types of couples and include:

•Using barriers, such as dental dams, saran wrap, or slit open condoms, for oral-vaginal and oral-anal contact.
•Using gloves when inserting fingers into the vagina or rectum.
•Putting condoms on insertable sex toys and changing the condom for each partner.


Note: Condoms should also be changed when moving a toy from the vagina to the rectum or vice versa.



Aids is another concern of mine when it comes to Lesbians or women who are Bi-sexual..Though some say its hard to contract it from another woman it is possible!!

I searched for other articles which would give us all some insight into this matter and found this:

"Many times I've been asked how many HIV positive Lesbians there are. The truth is, the Centers For Disease Control (CDC) does not keep a statistic as to how many Lesbians and Bisexual women have HIV. The CDC now believes that there is a small but significant number of Lesbians with HIV infection, and that woman-to-woman transmission of HIV is possible. In fact, woman-to-woman sexual transmission of HIV has already been reported in the medical literature. The risk of HIV transmission between women is lower than HIV transmission between men, and between men and women. We cannot say how often sexual infection between women occurs, but the rate is probably relatively low.

The way we keep statistics can also lead to erroneous conclusions as to the rate of HIV among Lesbians/bisexual women. If an HIV positive woman reported having sex with many women, but had sex with just one man (even just one time), for statistical purposes, she is considered heterosexual.

I've heard health professionals say that HIV isn't a problem in Lesbians, since they have not seen any statistics on how many Lesbians are actually infected. Part of the problem is that many healthcare professionals will not ask an HIV positive woman if she has female sex partners. Many healthcare professionals don't feel comfortable talking about Lesbian sex, and many just assume that if a woman has HIV, she either got it from a man, or through IV drug use. The truth is, if you don't ask the questions, you're not going to find the answers. Because we do not keep statistics on how many women with HIV are Lesbians (or bisexual), we cannot say how common HIV is in the Lesbian community.

I'm starting to find more and more Lesbians and Bisexual women with HIV and other STD's. From a recent medical study (and my own personal experience), many Lesbians and Bisexual women with HIV became infected through IV drug use. If a woman had multiple risk factors (unprotected sex with multiple partners, drug use etc.), it's hard to know how she became infected. Was it from her drug use? Was it from her female sex partners? Was it from her male partners (if any)? Sometimes it's hard to tell which of her risk factors she became infected by.

There is also a common myth in the Lesbian community that Lesbians and Bisexual women don't get HIV and other Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD's). The fact is they do. But again, we don't keep any statistics as to how many Lesbians have HIV, or other STD's for that matter.

In summary, all we can say is that female-to-female sexual transmission is possible. But we don't know how common (or rare) this is. Many Lesbians/Bisexual women became infected through IV drug use. Some may have become infected from male partners. Because we don't keep records of how many Lesbians/Bisexual women have HIV, the true prevalence of HIV in this community is unknown. HIV and STD's among Lesbians and Bisexual women is real and does exist....it's just never discussed. Although he states that the rate is low..to my Lesbian friends it is very possible to contract Aids or an STD from another woman!!

What is bacterial vaginosis?
Bacterial vaginosis (BV) is the most common vaginal infection in women of childbearing age, and it is sometimes accompanied by discharge, odor, pain, itching, or burning.



What causes bacterial vaginosis?
The cause of BV is not fully understood. BV is associated with an imbalance in the bacteria that are normally found in a woman's vagina. The vagina normally contains mostly "good" bacteria, and fewer "harmful" bacteria. BV develops when there is a change in the environment of the vagina that causes an increase in harmful bacteria.



How do women get bacterial vaginosis?
Not much is known about how women get BV. Women who have a new sex partner or who have had multiple sex partners are more likely to develop BV. Women who have never had sexual intercourse are rarely affected. It is not clear what role sexual activity plays in the development of BV, and there are many unanswered questions about the role that harmful bacteria play in causing BV. Women do not get BV from toilet seats, bedding, swimming pools, or from touching objects around them.



How common is bacterial vaginosis?
Scientific studies suggest that BV is common in women of reproductive age. In the United States, as many as 16% of pregnant women have BV. BV is generally more commonly seen in women attending STD clinics than in those attending family planning or prenatal clinics.



What are the signs and symptoms of bacterial vaginosis?
Women with BV often have an abnormal vaginal discharge with an unpleasant odor. Some women report a strong fish-like odor, especially after intercourse. The discharge is usually white or gray; it can be thin. Women with BV may also have burning during urination or itching around the outside of the vagina, or both. Some women with BV report no signs or symptoms at all.
How is bacterial vaginosis diagnosed?
A health care provider must examine the vagina for signs of BV (e.g., discharge) and perform laboratory tests on a sample of vaginal fluid to look for bacteria associated with BV.


Who is at risk for bacterial vaginosis?
Any woman can get BV. However, some activities or behaviors can upset the normal balance of bacteria in the vagina and put women at increased risk:
•Having a new sex partner or multiple sex partners


•Douching


•Using an intrauterine device (IUD) for contraception.
Pregnant women are at increased risk for complications of BV.



What are the complications of bacterial vaginosis?
In most cases, BV causes no complications. But there are some serious risks from BV:
•Pregnant women with BV more often have babies who are born early or with low birth weight.


•The bacteria that cause BV can sometimes infect the uterus (womb) and fallopian tubes (egg canals). This type of infection is called pelvic inflammatory disease (PID). PID can cause infertility or damage the fallopian tubes enough to increase the future risk of ectopic pregnancy and infertility. Ectopic pregnancy is a life-threatening condition in which a fertilized egg grows outside the uterus, usually in a fallopian tube.


•BV can increase a woman's susceptibility to HIV infection if she is exposed to the virus.


•Having BV increases the chances that an HIV-infected woman can pass HIV to her sex partner.


•BV can increase a woman's susceptibility to other STDs, such as chlamydia and gonorrhea.


Who should be treated for bacterial vaginosis?
Although BV will sometimes clear up without treatment, all women diagnosed with BV should be treated to avoid such complications as PID. Treatment is especially important for pregnant women. All pregnant women, regardless of symptoms, who have ever had a premature delivery or low birth weight baby should be considered for a BV examination and be treated when necessary. All pregnant women who have symptoms of BV should be checked and treated. Male partners generally do not need to be treated. However, BV may spread between female sex partners.



What is the treatment for bacterial vaginosis?
BV is treatable with antimicrobial medicines prescribed by a health care provider. Two different medicines are recommended as treatment for BV: metronidazole or clindamycin. Either can be used with non-pregnant or with pregnant women, but the recommended dosages differ. Women with BV who are HIV-positive should receive the same treatment as those who are HIV-negative. BV can recur after treatment.

How can bacterial vaginosis be prevented?
BV is not completely understood by scientists, and the best ways to prevent it are unknown. However, enough is known to show that BV is associated with having a new sex partner or having multiple sex partners. It is seldom found in women who have never had intercourse.Some basic prevention steps can help reduce the risk of upsetting the natural balance in the vagina and developing BV:
•Not having sex is the best protection against acquiring BV and other STDs.


•Having sex with only one uninfected partner who only has sex with you is safe.


•Using latex condoms, consistently and correctly, can reduce the risk of transmission of BV and other STDs.


•Limit the number of sex partners.


•Do not douche.


•Use all of the medicine prescribed for treatment of BV, even if the signs and symptoms go away.

Herpes Overview

Herpes is a common viral infection. It causes oral herpes - cold sores or fever blisters,
and genital herpes - genital sores or sores usually below the waist.

There are two herpes simplex viruses:
Herpes Simplex Type 1 (HSV-1)
Herpes Simplex Type 2 (HSV-2)

These viruses look identical under the microscope, and either type can infect the mouth or genitals. Most commonly, however, HSV-1 occurs above the waist, and HSV-2 below.

The body's natural defense system is called the "Immune Responses". Whenever herpes attacks the immune system, the body fights back against this menace. As the battle grows more intense, there are heavy losses by both the herpes virus and the immune system. This causes the body to be less able to defend itself from attacks by other viruses. For those very reasons, a herpes patient should try to keep the herpes virus under control at all times.



There are two widespread attitudes about herpes:

Herpes does not effect any other part of the body.

There is nothing I can do to keep from having an outbreak.

Both attitudes are wrong!
Remember...

You are not alone. Herpes is estimated to affect some 80 million people in America. At least one in five adults in the United States has genital herpes.

At least one in four teenage American girls between 14 - 19 years of age has a sexually transmitted disease, suggests a CDC study that startled some adolescent-health experts. 2% have herpes.

In the study mentioned above, only about half of the teenage girls admitted to having sex. Some teens defined sex as intercourse only, not including other types of intimate behavior such as oral sex, which can also spread diseases, herpes included. An alarming 40% of those who admitted to having sex, had an STD!

The better informed you are about herpes, the easier it will be to manage. Give yourself the best possible chance to limit recurrences by maintaining general good health , adding lysine to your diet, and keeping stress to a minimum.

Take care of the affected skin area. Keep the area dry and clean during outbreaks to help healing.

Avoid physical contact with the area from the time of the first symptoms (tingling, itching, burning) until all sores are completely healed, not just scabbed-over. Also be aware of possible shedding or "asymptomatic transmission", even after the sores have healed.

Use Condoms! When properly used, latex condoms help reduce your risk of spreading or getting herpes.

Prevent self-infection to other areas of your body. Wash your hands with soap and water if you touch a sore. Better yet, don't touch the sores.

Prospective parents: If either mother or father has genital herpes, or any of the mother's or father's previous sexual partners had genital herpes, tell your doctor about it.

It is possible to get genital herpes from cold sores.

Women with genital herpes: Don't skip your annual Pap smear.

Inform yourself about herpes. For many, diagnosis with herpes can mean a time of confusion, anger, fear and frustration. For many, it seems there is no place to turn for help in dealing with the sensitive aspects of herpes infection. There is help available.

Increase your intake of L-Lysine and decrease the amount of arginine in your diet.

Herpes is spread by direct contact.

Herpes may play a role in the spread of HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. Herpes can make people more susceptible to HIV infection, and it can make HIV-infected individuals more infectious.

Many people infected with the genital herpes virus experience outbreaks from time to time. These herpes outbreaks often appear as blisters or sores. The first herpes outbreak usually develops between 2 to 20 days after infection, although it sometimes takes longer. Although it varies, symptoms associated with the first outbreak may last up to 3 weeks.


However, there are many other people with genital herpes who have symptoms that they don't recognize. It is important to know that in addition to blisters or sores, there are also many other symptoms that occur around the genital area because of genital herpes.

•Redness
•Pain while urinating
•Bumps
•Tingling
•Cuts in the genital area
•Vaginal discharge
•
Some people confuse their symptoms with different conditions such as:
•Vaginitis
•Yeast infections
•Jock itch
•Urinary tract infections

•Hemorrhoids
•Folliculitis
•
Nearly 90% of people with genital herpes get a returning outbreak within the first year of infection. This may happen when something triggers the virus, which lays "sleeping" near the base of the spine. Many things may trigger an outbreak, including stress, excessive sunlight, menstruation, vigorous sexual activity, or a worn-down immune system. Once the herpes virus is awake, it begins to multiply and symptoms can appear, usually at the site of the original infection. The blisters generally heal within 7 to 10 days. Some people have frequent outbreaks, while others have them rarely or never."

Gangsta Boo is arrested!!

Famous Memphis rapper Gangsta Boo turned herself in to authorities on Tuesday (December 7) in connection with the robbery of an Olive Branch, Mississippi retail store.



Gangsta Boo, born Lola Mitchell, was arrested and released on $100,000 bond after she was charged with conspiracy to commit armed robbery.



Police are investigating Gangsta Boo’s role in the armed robbery of a Dollar General store on July 23.



One man, Marcus Curtis, 30, has been arrested and charged as the gunman who committed the crime.



Curtis allegedly accosted a female employee with a black revolver, as she was closing the discount store shortly before 9:00 PM.



He is accused of entering the store, forcing employees to empty a safe and ordering the terrified workers to lay face down while he fled the scene of the crime.



Gangsta Boo, a former member of Oscar-Award winning group Three 6 Mafia, has recorded with nationally known rappers like Ludacris, Outkast, Lil Jon and numerous others.



She is due in court to answer the charges on January 5.

Hey Guys!

As the world seems to know or for those who don't I want to speak about my recently dubbed "outburst" and how I feel.

I have recently been fined by the Grand Slam Committee of the ITF (International Tennis Federation) over 82 thousand dollars for getting mad and using the "F-bomb" at a line Judge.


To clear things up FIRST I was NOT fined 82 thousand dollars. I was fined 92 thousand dollars! I paid 10 thousand dollars on site immediately after the U. S. Open. So for the record, I was fined $92,000 not $82,000! The biggest fine EVER in tennis.

Also for all those that don't know, I felt incredibly bad, and miserable for losing my cool, and most importantly not representing the person I really am spiritually and the role model I want to be to my young fans. I have been a very feisty player all my life, but when the time came for me to be calm and cool, I did not exercise a mild temper. How I regret not being a better role model and person to all of my fans. I apologized to my fans and even wrote a personal letter to the lines woman with my apologies. She understood as she often witnesses this as it is not uncommon in my sport, or any other sport. She was extremely supportive and said that she did not think any further actions should be taken against me.


A few years ago in a most important match being watched my millions; I was blatantly cheated and robbed of a US Open title by yet another official. I was again on the wrong side of not one or two, but several other bad calls. This incident however changed tennis. Because of what was incorrectly done to me, the whole sport of tennis adapted new technology for a player to challenge the calls lines persons make if the player feels they were wronged. I was expected to take solace in the fact even though I lost the U.S Open title (a dream I've been working for since I was 2 years old). At least others won't be wronged in the future. I am always happy for the next person. I always am. I received apologies from the USTA, the Lines Official, and the Head of the US Open. However I don't recall EVER receiving a note, a phone call, a letter even a text from anyone at the Grand Slam Committee ITF apologizing about the wrong and disastrous call one of THEIR officials made.

When I was a teenager I was booed by an entire packed stadium at Indian Wells. In my new book "On the line" I talk about how I remember crying on every changeover in the towel. Praying and wishing I could lose and the match would just be done with. When the match was over I thanked the crowd those that cheered for me, and even those that did not. Looking back I am still amazed how I remained so calm and positive, and even managed to come out on top.

The fact is every professional athlete gets wronged in one way or another. And every athlete gets upset. We have been working, sacrificing, missing out on numerous things, things we will never get back or experience for the sake of our careers. For the sake of that one moment in time where we have a chance to shine through.



Imagine for 20 years working day in, day out, sacrificing on countless things to get this job, that will make all your hard work and endless efforts worthwhile. Try to imagine having that promotion in one moment being taken away from you because of a slight over sight, by someone overseeing your work. 20 years gone away. Time to start over, dust yourself off and try again. You work harder make positive changes. It happens again.

You do just that. You work even harder than before, spend longer hours. Then it happens yet again. Another slight oversight.



Well this is what happened to me, and to be honest I believe I reached my boiling point. After yet ANOTHER wrong call I began to wonder- Was I being "overlooked" or wrongly judged on purpose!??? Is this being done to keep me from achieving my best? Why does this keep happening at the same place?

Throughout my career I have remained calm. But I guess I finally reached my breaking point. A point I should have never allowed myself to get to. Everything seemed to have surfaced. As you know, losing my cool cost me over 92 thousand dollars. 92 thousand dollars! This is more than most people make in a year. 92 thousand dollars! Answer this: Why is it another player who also lost HIS cool not to a line judge - like I did - but to the main officiating judge- using the same "f word" why was HE only fined 10 thousand dollars. Was what I did 10 times worse than what he did?!

There is another HE who was fined less than half of what I was fined after someone in his camp actually physically ATTACKED an official!!!!

What about the famous HE who made arguing with officials "cool". Cool for "MEN" I guess.
Is it because they are all HE's and not a SHE like me?

It is indeed a massive difference. Being American I guess the 1st amendment, freedom of speech, does not apply to a SHE in this case? In any event the Grand Slam Committee, ITF and its staff did not hesitate to call, send a note, text, nor write letters after this incident. Ironic is it not?


I don't mind being fined. If I did wrong I accept the repercussions. All I ask for is to be treated equal.

When I was fined the 92K, I asked to see if I could donate some of it to different schools, and programs I'm involved in. My request was denied. So, I decided to match the fine by raising money and donating an additional 92K to my 2nd school that I am opening up in Africa, as well as to schools that I am helping here in the United States. I also want to educate women about what I learned from this whole experience. How we as women are still treated as less than equal. I am going to turn this 92K into a positive!!! In an interview with ABC News correspondent Robin Roberts this week, Michael's sister Janet Jackson revealed that she and her relatives unsuccessfully attempted to stage an intervention when they suspected Michael was addicted to prescription pills ("You can't make 'em drink the water..." she said). She also said she ultimately blames Dr. Conrad Murray for her brother's death. "[Dr. Murray] was the one that was administering [Propofol to Michael]...I think he is responsible," Janet boldly stated. She additionally declared that Dr. Murray should not be allowed to practice medicine.

Forbes reports that Tiger Woods is now the first athlete in history to earn $1 billion over the course of a career.

Not bad for a 33-year old who's still in the prime of his career. According to Forbes, he passed the $1billion mark when he earned $10 million for winning the FedEx Cup last week. It might be a mistake to put too much emphasis on the Forbes calculation since a huge chunk of Woods' earnings come from endorsement deals where financial terms are not disclosed. His career earnings on the PGA Tour are now up to $92,862,539, to be exact.

But his golf earnings represent a tiny part of his income. In 2008 alone, Woods earned an estimated $110 million, with just $5.775 million coming from the PGA Tour. Given that he only played six events that year, his earnings per event came to a mind-blowing $18.3 million including endorsements.

In addition to his deal with Nike, Woods has earned millions from contracts with companies including Titleist, General Mills, American Express, Accenture, Electronic Arts, and until recently, General Motors.

It will be interesting to see how well Woods' income stream lines up after he retires. Michael Jordan hasn't played in the NBA since 2003, but he still earns about $45 million per year -- mostly from Nike and far more than the highest paid athletes in baseball, basketball, or football earn as players.

The United States is not alone. We just saw the unemployment rate creep higher to 9.8% for September, and the rest of the world is coming with us.

The worldwide recession is still circling the globe, it seems, leaving slashed jobs in its wake. While the rise in unemployment is essentially a fact of life, how countries are responding to it differs widely. Some are spending aggressively to protect jobs; for example, by chipping in some extra cash to pay for shorter work weeks.

In the 30 countries comprising the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), unemployment is as low as 3.2% in the Netherlands and as high as 17.6% in Spain, as of July 2009.

For the 16 countries in Europe using the euro, unemployment has reached 9.6%, slightly below the September level in the United States. For the OECD as a whole, unemployment is expected to hit 10% in the second half of next year, which will translate to 57 million people without jobs.

Developing economies have been hit hard as well. The jobless rate in Mexico reached its highest level in 13 years, though the situation has eased slightly in Brazil. South Africa is experiencing its worst recession in 17 years, with 25% of the population out of work.

How are different countries handling this? Take a look:

1. Germany
Unemployment is up to 7.7%, as of July, from 7.3% in 2008 (annualized). But, it's down from 8.4% in 2007. Government subsidies have been used to support shorter work weeks as a way to prevent mass layoffs.

2. France
French unemployment reached 9.2% in July, up sharply 7.8% for all of 2008, but it could reach 10% by the end of this year. The government has used measures from selective payroll tax exemptions to short-work arrangements to keep the effects of high unemployment at bay.

3. Britain
The country's unemployment rate has reached a high of 7.9%, an almost 13-year high. By next year, the total number of people out of work is expected to pass 3 million. Fortunately, new job losses are down from the highs seen last spring.

4. Spain
Over the past decade, Spain created a third of all new euro-zone jobs. Now, it has the OECD's highest rate of unemployment.

5. Ireland
Unemployment jumped from 6% last year (and 4.7% in 2007) to 13.3% by July 2009.

6. Japan
Unemployment fell to 5.5% in August from 5.7% in July -- the highest rate since the post-World War II era. But, the number of people without jobs gained 32.7% (to 3.61 million) from a year earlier. Temporary work arrangements have increased substantially, now accounting for roughly a third of the workforce in Japan, which is the world's second largest economy.

7. China
The official urban rate of unemployment hit 4.3% for the second quarter of 2009, but this doesn't include millions of migrant workers and employees furloughed by state companies (but not counted as layoffs). In a workforce of 210 million for the country's urban centers, 9 million were registered as unemployed. The number of migrant workers who lost their jobs could be as high as 30 million, but there's no official tally.

8. India
With 95% of the workforce in the "informal" sector, it's hard to get a sense of the recession's impact on the Indian job market. An official employment survey is conducted only once every five years.

9. Mexico
The country sustained an unemployment rate increase of 6.28% in August -- the highest in more than 13 years. Now, 45 million workers are estimated to be out of jobs, up 4.2% year-over-year. The government is planning reforms to lower costs for investors in public works projects and to cut a bit of the red tape. Also, it is now paying a third of the salaries of auto industry workers as a way to reduce plant layoffs.

10. South Africa
At 23.6% for the second quarter of 2009, the unemployment rate is already sky-high, and that's up from 23.1% from the same period in 2008. This is the country's worst recession since 1992. The rest of the African continent has fared better, though shrinking demand elsewhere in the world is having an effect. Of course, I doubt Somalia's feeling the pinch the way the rest of the world is.

New Freddie Mac CEO hits the compensation jackpot


Freddie Mac has a new CEO and his name is Ross Kari. Can you guess his compensation? Is it reasonable in light of the fact that Freddie Mac is controlled by the government?

In these days when we have 5.4 million people who have been on unemployment for at least six months, Kari's compensation is $5.5 million, which includes $2 million as a signing on bonus and a generous salary of $2.3 million.

Freddie Mac was bailed out by the government to the tune of $51 billion and more bailout money may be needed. Outside pay experts are outraged. Paul Hodgson of The Corporate Library said: "We are in a period when this shouldn't be acceptable. ... Even if pay is competitive to the market, that doesn't make it OK today."

Kari comes from Fifth Third Bancorp (NASDAQ: FITB). His compensation there was $580,000 and he received a $100,000 signing bonus. Fifth Third received $3.4 billion in TARP money, so it was not 100% pure and clean of mismanagement.

Atlanta Housewife's Fiance Stabbed, Killed In Strip Club

ATLANTA -- Kandi Burruss, the newest cast member of the hit reality show, “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” is coping with the tragic death of her fiance, A.J., who has been featured regularly on the show.

Burruss' publicist, Lisa Nelson, confirmed to WSBTV.com reporter Brian Johnson that the incident has left the Atlanta housewife stunned and speechless. Nelson, who represented Burruss during the taping of the show, told Johnson that the family is asking for privacy during this very difficult time.

Burruss, an award-winning singer-songwriter and former member of the ’90s R&B group Xscape, has had numerous disagreements with her mother on the show over her relationship with A.J.

Atlanta police told Channel 2 Action News that A.J. received a severe head injury from a fight at The Body Tap Club in the 1200 block of Marietta Blvd. in Atlanta.

Police didn't have a motive for the altercation, but the investigation is still under way.

the Big Deal with President Obama making a speech..

I can recall listening to the president when I was a child while at school...in the recent uproar I started to remember that even as a child the president then also encouraged us to stay in school and be the best person we can be. The same speech that President Obama is giving.
In comparison I feel that the present and the past present are totally different in their delivery... Obama Charismatic and smooth; the other Presidents boring. Another significant difference and that now so many kids of different races and nationality can now identify with Obama!

Many republicans are arguing the point that there is a hidden agenda, some even compared him to Hitler..WTF! Now we are not blind as people and it really doesn't surprise me that there are many of the other race who does not agree or even want him to address. Are they trying to say " You are the president but you won't be talking to our kids!" translation N---er stay in your place!

I knew early on the racism was alive and well but for them to actually go after Obama the way they are is letting me know that not one African-American is beyond its reach!!

I don't recall groups opposing the Bush's when they delivered their speeches! Or the media frenzy surrounding it. So to ease their minds the Obama team has posted to their website a preview of the speech that he is going to give.

I say F--k them Obama they are running scared because they have done minorities so wrong over the last 100 or more years and know that karma is a Bitch!!

A judge on Tuesday sentenced Chris Brown to five years' probation, six months' community labor for the beating of Rihanna and ordered the R&B singer to stay away from his former girlfriend for the next five years.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Patricia Schnegg told Brown that he could be sent to state prison if he violated any terms of his sentence, including an order to stay 100 yards away from Rihanna unless they're attending music industry events..

A probation report prepared for Tuesday's sentencing describes two previous violent incidents. The first happened about three months before the February beating while the couple was traveling in Europe; Rihanna slapped Brown during an argument, and he shoved her into a wall. In the second instance, Brown allegedly broke the front and passenger side windows on a Range Rover they were driving while visiting Barbados, Rihanna 's home country. Neither attack was reported, the probation report states..

Brown will serve his sentence in his home state — Virginia — and his community labor will be overseen by the police chief in Richmond..

The judge said she wanted to ensure that Brown, 20, performs physical labor instead of community service, such as mentoring young people. He will also undergo a year of domestic violence counseling..

Rihanna did not attend Tuesday's sentencing..

At one point, Brown, who was accompanied by his mother, agreed to the terms of the sentence before Schnegg had finished going through them all..

The hearing had been planned for Thursday afternoon, but Brown's lawyer, Mark Geragos, asked to move up the singer's sentencing to Tuesday. A previous attempt to sentence Brown was postponed when Schnegg said she hadn't received adequate assurances that Brown would perform physical labor if allowed to serve probation in Virginia..

The judge said she was satisfied with a letter presented by Geragos that Richmond Police Chief Bryan T. Norwood will directly oversee Brown's labor program..

After Brown pleaded guilty to felony assault in June, Schnegg ordered the pair to stay away from each other and to not contact one another. Her order Tuesday essentially extended that for the next five years..

Donald Etra, Rihanna's attorney, has said he didn't think the strict rules were necessary, but that he and Rihanna favored a less-stringent ruling that simply ordered Brown not to annoy, harass or molest the 21-year-old pop singer. He said after Tuesday's hearing that Rihanna did not object to the stay-away order, which allows the former couple to be within 10 yards of each other if they are attending music industry events..

Otherwise, Brown was ordered to remain 100 yards away from Rihanna..

Schnegg said she was aware of reports that Brown had been spotted on several occasions in the same places as Rihanna..

"I am not amused with the chatter that has been on the airwaves and any violation of your probation in this case comes with the potential for state prison," Schnegg told Brown..

Brown was arrested Feb. 8, hours after he was accused of beating Rihanna..

The attack occurred in Los Angeles' Hancock Park neighborhood as Brown drove a rented sports car. A Los Angeles police detective described a brutal attack in a search warrant affidavit filed in the case, stating Brown hit, choked and bit Rihanna and tried at one point to push her from the car..

Brown's career suffered after his arrest, with sponsors dropping him and radio stations refusing to play his music. Both he and Rihanna had to cancel several high-profile appearances, including planned performances at the Grammy Awards the day of the attack..

In a probation report released after the sentencing, Brown is quoted as saying he was "depressed" since the attack and that he "'does not want to carry on that cycle.'".

A felony charge of making criminal threats was dropped during Tuesday's sentencing.

Rapper behind 'Roxanne's Revenge' gets Warner Music to pay for Ph.D

Roxanne Shante was a young rap star. When the music stopped, she didn't miss a beat.


Roxanne's revenge was sweet indeed.

Twenty-five years after the first queen of hip-hop was stiffed on her royalty checks, Dr. Roxanne Shante boasts an Ivy League Ph.D. - financed by a forgotten clause in her first record deal.

"This is a story that needs to be told," Shante said. "I'm an example that you can be a teenage mom, come from the projects, and be raised by a single parent, and you can still come out of it a doctor."

Her prognosis wasn't as bright in the years after the '80s icon scored a smash hit at age 14: "Roxanne's Revenge," a razor-tongued response to rap group UTFO's mega-hit "Roxanne, Roxanne."

The 1984 single sold 250,000 copies in New York City alone, making Shante (born Lolita Gooden) hip hop's first female celebrity.

She blazed a trail followed by Lil' Kim, Salt-N-Pepa and Queen Latifah - although Shante didn't share their success.

After two albums, Shante said, she was disillusioned by the sleazy music industry and swindled by her record company. The teen mother, living in the Queensbridge Houses, recalled how her life was shattered.

"Everybody was cheating with the contracts, stealing and telling lies," she said. "And to find out that I was just a commodity was heartbreaking."

But Shante, then 19, remembered a clause in her Warner Music recording contract: The company would fund her education for life.

She eventually cashed in, earning a Ph.D. in psychology from Cornell to the tune of $217,000 - all covered by the label. But getting Warner Music to cough up the dough was a battle.

"They kept stumbling over their words, and they didn't have an exact reason why they were telling me no," Shante said.

She figured Warner considered the clause a throwaway, never believing a teen mom in public housing would attend college. The company declined to comment for this story.

Shante found an arm-twisting ally in Marguerita Grecco, the dean at Marymount Manhattan College. Shante showed her the contract, and the dean let her attend classes for free while pursuing the money.

"I told Dean Grecco that either I'm going to go here or go to the streets, so I need your help," Shante recalls. "She said, 'We're going to make them pay for this.'"

Grecco submitted and resubmitted the bills to the label, which finally agreed to honor the contract when Shante threatened to go public with the story.

Shante earned her doctorate in 2001, and launched an unconventional therapy practice focusing on urban African-Americans - a group traditionally reluctant to seek mental health help.

"People put such a taboo on therapy, they feel it means they're going crazy," she explained. "No, it doesn't. It just means you need someone else to talk to."

Shante often incorporates hip-hop music into her sessions, encouraging her clients to unleash their inner MC and shout out exactly what's on their mind.

"They can't really let loose and enjoy life," she said. "So I just let them unlock those doors."

Shante, 38, is also active in the community. She offers $5,000 college scholarships each semester to female rappers through the nonprofit Hip Hop Association.

She also dispenses advice to young women in the music business via a MySpace page.

"I call it a warning service, so their dreams don't turn into nightmares," she said.

Hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons said Shante is a shining role model for the rap community. "Dr. Shante's life is inspiring," Simmons said. "She was a go-getter who rose from the struggle and went from hustling to teaching. She is a prime example that you can do anything, and everything is possible."

KATHERINE JACKSON GETS CUSTODY OF THE KIDS..!!

Michael Jackson's mother Katherine will get custody of his three children under terms of a deal that's just been reached, it was reported Thursday. According to reports, Debbie Rowe, the mother of Michael's eldest children, will get visitation, but no extra money.

Though he did not go into specifics, Katherine's attorney Londell McMillan said on CBS' The Early Show Thursday: "It's an agreement, an agreement for the best interests of the children. This is not a money deal. This is not about money."

Since the singer's June 25 death, 79-year-old Katherine Jackson has remained in control of the three children, Prince, 12, Paris, 11, and Blanket, 7. Rowe has sent mixed signals on whether she wants to be the children's guardian.

NBC's Today show reports that under the new deal, Rowe, who will not receive any extra money, will retain her parental rights but has agreed not to claim custody.

NBC also reports that Prince and Paris know Rowe is their mother, and as a central part of the agreement, they will begin to have a relationship with her. A child psychologist will supervise the process, according to NBC.

Asked if the issue of custody and Rowe had been resolved, McMillan said on The Early Show, "We will be making an announcement very shortly on that issue, and all of the parties are resolved. There is no situation
better for these children than for them to be raised and reared in the
loving care of Mrs. Katherine Jackson."

He dismissed reports that Joe Jackson shouldn't be involved in raising the children. Said McMillan, "I don't think it's valid at all. I think Joe Jackson is the husband of Mrs. Jackson, but he's not living in Los Angeles."

While Michael's will requested that Katherine raise his children, he appointed his two longtime business partners, John Branca and John McClain, to look after his money.

Katherine receives 40 percent of the estate, but she's fighting to be

McMillan denied that Katherine is trying to contest the will.

I sit back and replay all of the wrong that has been done in my life, believing and hoping that others are somewhat like me and that way of being is honets and reliable. Growing up and maturing you find that people don't always do as they say they will and it amazes me at the audacity a person has to place their needs before another's . I know you're thinking that she is tipping hard expecting someone to place her needs before theirs. The fact is that when you are asked and when you agree to do something then its simple do it!I know I take the blame of trusting and relying on some, when I should infact place my trust in God! Mistake #1 I try my best to support and encourage others who are striving to better and enrich their lives in a positive way. I am kind and sweet to all that cross my path but what I have learned is that people will disappoint you! Whatever happened to the standup people of the world!
I guess you know by now that I am very upset with someone for not doing what they agreed to do and now because they didn't see or care that my situation was as important as theirs I am forced to endure some uncomfortable situations! It sucks! and it bothers me. I am not rich and I only receive money from the royalty that my books makes me when they sell! I work a job and I struggle everyday like the next person but I have decided to do the process of elimination and DISMISS individuals out of my life who has proven to me that they are not trustworthy! I don't think that I should be the one constantly calling to see whether or not the other person has done what they should have many months ago! Okay now that I've ranted!

I am in the process of working on my third book! I know, I know!! I am taking on many things as I prepare to do an extensive Marketing and Promoting Strategy! All in the name of my books and soon to be Publishing Company! Distracted by everyday life's obstacles I have been blessed with adequate income that will afford me to do so!! Looking for extra cash? You can boost your paycheck by adjusting your withholding.

Most American workers can give themselves a tax cut much larger than the one being delivered by the Making Work Pay tax credit okayed by Congress earlier that year. That credit, a key part of President Obama’s economic stimulus plan, is worth $400 for individual workers and $800 for married couples. The potential do-it-yourself tax cut averages $2,700.

The new credit won’t show up on tax returns until next spring, but workers are enjoying the benefit right now in the form of reduced tax withholding from their paychecks. Most single workers saw withholding drop -- and paychecks rise -- by about $45 a month starting in March or April. For married employees, the boost is about $65 a month.

Here's a happy little secret: Most taxpayers have the power to boost their paychecks ... without working a minute of overtime or getting a promotion. You’re in the lucky group if you're one of the 75% of Americans who get a tax refund year after year. In 2008, the IRS issued nearly 107 million refunds averaging $2,400. So far this year, the average refund is even more: $2,700.

If you're just "average," then, you deserve an extra $225 a month in your paychecks -- far more than is being delivered by the stimulus plan. Habitual refund receivers have every right -- and some might say a patriotic duty to help stimulate the economy -- to order the IRS to take less out of their paychecks.

All you have to do is file a new W-4 form, Employee's Withholding Allowance Certificate, with your employer to adjust the number of "allowances" you claim. You get one allowance for yourself, your spouse and each of your dependents, for example, and maybe extra ones if you itemize or claim certain tax credits.

Each allowance for 2009 basically makes $3,650 of your annual income off-limits for income-tax withholding. Claiming extra allowances on your W-4 will automatically decrease withholding and increase your take-home pay. You'll enjoy instant gratification from a do-it-yourself pay raise.

Full disclosure: Reducing or eliminating over-withholding will reduce or eliminate the tax refund you’ll get next spring. But, face it: It makes a lot more sense to get your money when you earn it, particularly in these tough economic times. And, if President Obama and the Congress think reduced withholding is a key to the national economic recovery, the least you can do is give them a hand.

Of course you can't just make up a number for your W-4. The IRS has a dense 19-page booklet with seven intimidating worksheets to guide you toward the right number of allowances to claim. The agency even offers a Web calculator to help. But it requires nearly 30 entries.

To make things less painful -- and to encourage taxpayers to set their withholding situation straight -- we've developed a simple, user-friendly calculator. Answer just three questions (you'll find the answers are on your 2008 tax return), and we'll give you a solid idea of how many more withholding allowances you should be claiming. It's based on the premise that your financial life in 2009 is going to be pretty much the same as last year.

Several things can affect the amount that should be withheld from your check: a new job, a new marriage, a new child, or a new house, to name a few.

But, if your financial life is shaping up to be pretty much the same this year as last, our calculator will instantly figure how many extra allowances you deserve. And, to give you the incentive to fill out that new W-4 and hand it to your boss, we'll show you how much extra money you'll add to your paycheck by claiming the appropriate number of allowances.

Avoid Costly Mind Games

Most experts who rail against over-withholding and the flood of refunds it unleashes complain about giving the government an interest-free loan. And there's no doubt that you're better off steering that cash into savings or investments that make you money. But there's something of more importance at work here.

Habitual refunds can play costly games with your mind and short-circuit meaningful tax planning. You've surely heard this joyous springtime comment: "Oh, I didn't owe any tax this year. I'm getting money back."

Of course, the gratified taxpayer probably paid thousands -- maybe tens of thousands -- of dollars in tax and simply recouped funds that had been overpaid. This delusion can inflict financial pain if it leads you to lower your guard to the tax consequences involved when you enter into financial transactions during the year, whether that's deciding which stocks to sell, whether to buy a rental property or whether to transform a hobby into a business.

The prospect of getting money back also can lead to laziness when you work on your return. There's a good chance you'll work harder to shave the amount of extra tax you owe than to pump up an already fat refund.

After a wonderful review in Reading Time: The Journal of the Children's Book Council of Australia (Vol. 45, No. 4, November 2001, p. 37), that suggested that "for students experiencing study problems, a copy of this guide could be used by teachers and student counselors to show them and to encourage them to apply for their own personal copies", I suddenly found myself courted by traditional educational publishers, and the book was reissued in a 2nd edition in 2002 by Five Senses Education Pty Ltd.

THE RESSURECTION OF JESUS CHRIST! I REMEMBER..

I AM REMINDED OF MANY EASTER SUNDAYS WHEN WE WOULD RISE UP EARLY FOR SUNDAY SERVICE WHICH WAS KNOWN AS SUNRISE SERVICE! WE WERE EXCITED AS KIDS TO WEAR OUR NEW CLOTHES AND SHOES.THERE WAS ALWAYS A CONTEST TO SEE WHO WOULD HAVE THE PRETTIEST DRESS THAT SUNDAY! OH I REMEMBER... WAKING UP TO A HOT BREAKFAST AND ALL THE EASTER EGGS AND BASKET FULL OF CANDY AND THAT CHOCOLATE BUNNY!! MY FAVORITE WAS THE GOLD BRICKS!! I ALSO RECAL GOING TO CHURCH THE WEEK BEFORE AND ON THAT GOOD FRIDAY WE WOULD HAVE 12:00 NOON SERVICE WHERE WE WERE REMINDED OF THE SACRIFICE THAT JESUS HAD MADE FOR ALL OF US ON CALVARY MORE THAN 200 YEARS AGO!! WE WOULD GO TO EACH PICTURE THAT LED UP TO HIS DEATH AND LEARN THE MEANING BEHIND ALL THE STAGES THAT LED UP TO JESUS HANGING AND DYING ON THE CROSS..

THEN WE WENT INTO THE BIBLE WHERE WE READ AND DISCUSSED THE DAY THAT HE AROSE FROM THE DEAD..KNOWN TO US TODAY AS THE RESSURECTION. I THINK BACK TO THE MOVIE" PASSION OF CHRIST" THOUGH IT WAS CRITICIZED AND VIEWED AS GRUESOME I WOULD SAY THAT IT DEPICTED A REAL PICTURE FROM WHAT WAS DESCRIBED IN THE BIBLE..

SO REMEMBER THAT JESUS WAS PUNISHED AND SENTENCED TO DEATH FOR OUR SINS!!

How to Find a Low-Stress Job

Chronic job stress, which the World Health Organization has called a "worldwide epidemic," is not the occasional aggravation of a dysfunctional copier or an annoying coworker. It's the energy-draining, psyche-straining, day-to-day mental grind that results in accidents, insomnia, irritability, fatigue, and overall lower quality of life.
But work doesn't have to stress you out. There are dozens of low-stress jobs available across a wide variety of fields, according to Laurence Shatkin, career information expert and author of "150 Best Low-Stress Jobs." And the vast majority of those jobs have good growth potential and good wages as well, Shatkin tells Yahoo! HotJobs.

Best Low-Stress Job for You?

Reaction to stressors is idiosyncratic. Some find the pressure of exactitude debilitating, others thrive on it. Some can't handle conflict, while others take arguments in stride.

Hate time pressure? Archivists, who plan and oversee the arrangement of exhibitions, have a more leisurely pace of work than many other professions. Average annual earnings of archivists were nearly $41,000, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).

Prefer a short workweek? Massage therapists and fitness trainers work fewer hours per week than any other professionals. These fields are growing fast as well, although the pay is less than many other fields; and many positions are contract, without benefits (which some people could find stressful).

Don't want to look over your shoulder? Environmental scientists enjoy lower competition than many other fields. The career also offers an enviable 25% job growth rate and an average salary of $56,000, according to the most recent BLS data.

Want freedom from the bottom line? Mathematicians and sociologists -- average salaries, $87,000 and $60,000, respectively -- have to worry less about the impact their decisions have on company results.

Run from unpleasant people? You may be more comfortable working with plans (marine engineers, average earnings $73,000) or theories (physicists, average earnings $94,000).

To choose a low-stress job or career, it's important to consider what you can and can't abide, according to Andrea Moselle, senior manager of work/life at AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals. "Any job can be stressful or not, depending on how you view it."

De-Stress Your Current Job

Not everyone can find a great low-stress job quickly. If you're at wits end now, there are several ways to take the edge off your work situation:

Look at your own attitudes. While it might seem like the job itself is the culprit, experts suggest changing your attitudes and the way you adapt, or don't adapt, to job stressors. "If you're confident in yourself and positive about the world and open to new solutions, you'll find it easier to be resilient to stressful situations," Moselle says.

Gain control. Psychologists agree that when people experience less stress, they have some degree of over their environment. Even if it's something as simple as organizing your messy desk at the end of the day, or making a list of tasks, you'll not only clear up the mental clutter, but gain a sense of mastery and control over your job.

Get physical. Physical occupations such as massage therapist are considered low stress, Shatkin says, largely because it's harder to build up stress-generated adrenalin when you're moving around.

What if you have a sedentary job? After a contentious meeting, make time to walk around the block or around the building. Go beyond the stress ball and move your whole body, even if it's for a minute or two. Not only will you experience a decrease in stress-releasing chemicals like cortisol, you may get a fitness boost as well.

Track your accomplishments. A common denominator of many low-stress jobs is tangible results. Construction is considered a lower stress job in many ways because workers clearly see the fruits of their labors. If, like many, you have a job without a clear tangible output, Shatkin suggests keeping a tally that indicates what you've accomplished, or positive testimonial letters or emails from colleagues and customers.

"Besides adding to a sense of accomplishment, all of these documents can be useful at performance-appraisal time or for assembling a portfolio when job-seeking," he says.

Join an employee network. Groups that help employees who care for children or elderly parents, for example, are thriving in many companies. "These networks are a great way to find support and networking and mentoring help, as well as finding the tools to take some of the stress away on the job and off the job," Moselle says.

Make your needs known. Most companies have some feedback mechanisms for letting employees vent constructively. Whether you need child care services, flex time, fewer interruptions in your schedule, or a change in workflow patterns, Moselle suggests taking advantage of all opportunities to share ways of reducing your stress.
